Image Title: Portrait of Martin Luther

Description: Portrait of Martin Luther (1483-1546). From the only sixteenth century German translation of Luther's Advent Postils, this portrait of Martin Luther by the artist Hans Baldung Grien (1484-1545), a supporter of the Reformation, shows the reformer as a saint. Dressed as an Augustinian monk, crowned with a nimbus, and with the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove above him, Luther expounds the Christian faith.
