Description: Printer's device of Johannes Bergman de Olpe (fl. 1493-1499) displays his motto "Nihil Sine Musa," which translated means 'nothing without cause.' The mounds in the shield may be a reference to "Berg" but more probably they are the arms of Breisach (cp. Murray German Catal. p. 609): the fleur-de-lis may indicate Coblenz (Davies, Devices of the Early Printers, 23).
