Description: This woodcut print features a rendering of Jesus’ call either to the brothers Simon and Andrew or the brothers James and John, all fishermen of the Sea of Galilee, to leave their trades and become his disciples, a scene which is used as the title-image of the section of the Lutheran hymnist Joseph Clauder’s (1586 – 1653 CE) Psalmnodia novae pars nova: sive selectissimorum hymnorum centura II dedicated to the theme of the grip of Jesus’ call on its hearers to enter the life of discipleship.
