Description: Dante converses with another native Italian, Piero da Medicina, who was guilty of sowing discord and thus relegated to this area of the Eighth Circle. His nose and part of his face has been sliced off by the sword wielding demon, leaving the mutilated visage that he presents to Dante and Virgil. The engraver, Jean Delduc (d. 1885), has placed his signature at the bottom left.
