Virgil reveals that he is one of the souls that reside here as they gaze upon a group of souls taking mournful repose under the shelter of a large rock. The engraver, Jules Fagnion (19th c.), has placed his signature at the bottom right, while the artist, Gustave Doré (1832-1888), has placed his signature at the bottom left.
